Klemens Schmiederer appointed to the Board of Management of TÜV SÜD AG
Munich - With effect from 1 February 2015, the Supervisory Board of TÜV SÜD AG has appointed Klemens Schmiederer to the company's Board of Management.The 55-year-old engineering graduate, who has in-depth knowledge of the global automobile industry, will be responsible for the Mobility Segment on the Board of Management of Germany's leading TÜV organisation.In this position, he will succeed Horst Schneider who will retire at the end of April 2015.

From 1987 to 2013 Klemens Schmiederer held several management positions at Behr Group. As a Managing Director (COO/CTO) of the Stuttgart-based automotive supplier of air-conditioning solutions for vehicles and engine cooling systems, he was in charge of global product development, production and operational business in Europe from 2003. Born in 1959, the engineering graduate studied aerospace engineering at Stuttgart University and Imperial College London. Schmiederer amassed international management experience in various positions including Chief Engineer and Member of the Executive Committee at Behr America in Charleston (South Carolina) between 1993 and 1998.
On the TÜV SÜD Board of Management, Klemens Schmiederer will take over the responsibilities of Horst Schneider, who will retire from the company's Board of Management at the end of April 2015 after over 40 years of employment with TÜV SÜD. 66-year-old Schneider will nevertheless maintain his links to the leading German TÜV organisation, taking over the post of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the TÜV SÜD Foundation. By funding numerous projects, the TÜV SÜD Foundation helps to generate enthusiasm for technology and natural sciences among younger generations and supports young people in their professional education. The TÜV SÜD Foundation and TÜV SÜD e.V. are joint shareholders of TÜV SÜD AG.
